IPE Conference and Awards 2016

Welcome to the Deutsche Asset Management
Workshop 2016

Managing Fixed Income Liquidity in a
Persistent Low Interest-Rate Environment

Thursday, 01 December 14:05 - 15:00

Liquidity is probably the most critical element of efficient financial markets. Over the last two years market liquidity, and its potential lack, has become a key topic of discussion, especially in relation to bond markets. This is concurrent with the emergence of fixed income ETFs as a liquidity tool, itself raising several questions, including the reasons behind the structural decline in market liquidity.

The Deutsche Asset Management Workshop 2016 will look at market liquidity over time and across asset classes, how ETFs have helped maintain and possibly increase the available level of liquidity.

It will also address some of the concerns raised by market participants with regard to the liquidity provided by ETFs.

Eric Wiegand is director, ETF Strategy EMEA and APAC at Deutsche Asset Management.

Wiegand is responsible for the exchange traded products strategy for Europe and the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions within the passive team of Deutsche Asset Management’s Global Client Group.

He began his career in the investment banking division, before becoming a product specialist for passive investment solutions in the newly created Deutsche Asset Management unit, focusing on German institutional clients.
